World Physiotherapy Day 8th September 2023

Background World Physiotherapy Day (World PT Day) is observed every year on 8th September. Designated in 1996, World PT Day is promoted to generate awareness about the crucial contribution physiotherapists make to society including children with physical deformity enabling them to be mobile, well, and independent.

Situation Analysis at Noor-e-Sehar Special Education School Staffed with 4 well experienced and trained physiotherapists, Noor-e-Sehar Special Education School has a designated physiotherapy department fully equipped with modern facilities to cater the needs of students with mobility challenges. Out of 92 enrolled students with physical disability, around 60 students are provided regular physiotherapy services every month by our team of physiotherapists. Many of these students can now walk independently and actively participate in their daily activities with ease.

To commemorate World Physiotherapy Day Noor-e-Sehar Special Education School organized a delightful and inclusive program on Friday, 15th September 2023. The Day’s celebration included speeches and posters highlighting the importance of the Day followed by cricket match played between the students, staff and school support workers creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.

The Proceedings The participants were divided into two spirited teams including a few students on wheelchair but strongwilled to play cricket match. The two teams namely “Green Gladiators” and & “Blue Warriors” comprised not only students but also the dedicated staff members of the school. The principal and staff welcomed and encouraged all the students with physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and hearing impairments, who were participating in the event with a commitment of diversity and inclusion. The amazing aspect of the event was that the students with disabilities displayed high spirit of the game showing their impressive batting, bowling and fielding skills. They received absolutely encouraging applause by their fellow students and staff.

The Fun and Laughter The event was filled with fun and laughter and friendly atmosphere. The cheers from the spectators added to the overall enjoyment. To cap off the event on a delightful note, snacks were distributed among the children. This simple yet meaningful gesture brought smiles to the faces of all the participants and served as a perfect conclusion to a memorable day.

Conclusion This event not only celebrated World Physiotherapy Day but also promoted inclusivity, physical activity, and a sense of togetherness within NSSES. The event served as a reminder that celebrations of such events can bridge gaps and bring people of all abilities together in a spirit of fun.
